No charges after death of released man

A Rhode Island grand jury has decided against bringing criminal charges against police officers involved in the arrest of a Connecticut man who died last year after being released from custody.

OS X 10.7 Lion — definitely not work the headache

I made the mistake of upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion. I had no good reason to do it, other than that I prefer the new style of dialog buttons. Bad move. It has serious issues with its NVidia graphics drivers, and WindowServer crashes (which means you get booted to the log-in screen and all your apps are terminated). Sad.

Wow.. they want you to:

  1. Research the potential renter using FACEBOOK, in addition to the airbnb site.. no personal references, though..
  2. Keep one night’s rent (what, $20?) as a “security” deposit..
  3. Oh, and “It takes a Village”, according to them, which means you should rely on your neighbors to monitor for suspicious activity. Seems to me that neighbors are the emergency fall-back, and that for a company to try and build it’s business model around that.. is ridiculous.

This surprises me; not that he did it, but that it became enough of an issue to warrant law enforcement activity. See, Apple uses Deep Freeze on the in-store demo Macs, which prevents data on the HD from being changed — after each reboot the machine is back to it’s original state, with any added software or files gone. Seems to me this store either fracked up their demo set-up, or they aren’t rebooting the computers as often as they’re supposed to..
